What about Knob?

We planned a 4-day getaway to Smith Mountain Lake and stayed in the "What about Knob" property. The house couldn't have been more pleasant, with games in the basement and a deep-water dock that was perfect for our pontoon boat during our stay. The kitchen was exceptional. They had more cookware than any rental I've ever been in. We could cook just about any meal you ever wanted. The amenities were impressive. I would definitely recommend this property and dealing with Smith Mountain Lake Rentals to make your trip pleasant and seamless. A shout-out to Parrot Cove Boat Rentals as well.

What About Knob is one of those houses that has its own personality. The décor is eclectic, interesting, and well staged without feeling like you’re staying in a theater. Everywhere you look there is something cool or unexpected, but somehow it all works. The house was spotless when we arrived, and although it isn’t large, every bit of space has been used well. The kitchen and pantry are compact but organized and thoughtfully laid out. The setting really takes this place to another level. With water wrapping around the property, the views are pretty epic from just about everywhere you look. The two king bedrooms were very comfortable, and waking up to those lake views every morning never got old. Our favorite spot inside was the downstairs lounge and game area. It has a completely different vibe, with the bar, kitchenette, bumper pool, and ping pong. It’s the kind of space where you pour a drink, start a game, and suddenly realize a couple of hours have gone by. Between the dock, decks, and fire pit, we spent as much time outside as we did in. What About Knob is easily one of the more memorable places we’ve stayed at Smith Mountain Lake. We will be back!

We had a great stay at What About Knob and are already planning a trip back in October- The views are incredible and the house was clean, comfortable, and well set up. Our younger kids loved the loft, and the fire pit quickly became everyone's favorite evening spot. Even with the lake level being low, we were still able to swim right off the dock. A big thank you to the team at SML Vacation Rentals. When the TV stopped working, they quickly brought us a 47-inch Smart TV to use until a new one could be installed. We really appreciated the fast, friendly service. We have been renting with them for years and this is just another reason we keep coming back. If I could suggest one thing, it would be a softer, fluffier sofa for relaxing after a day on the lake. We had a great time and can't wait to come back!
