Renter

This is our third year booking with Smith Mountain Lake Rentals! This house was the best one yet! Perfect location, perfect driveway for cars and parking our trailer after dropping off the boat at the marina just a short walk from the home. The home itself is very nice- plenty of room to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather. The game room and bunk area were amazing- plenty of games, including cards and board games. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary items and even some extras that were very much used and appreciated (crockpot). The outdoor amenities are wonderful- we enjoyed campfires with smores; loved the top deck on the boat dock for sunning and hanging out: kayak and paddleboards are super fun and provided plenty of fun for our family! The walk to the dock is a steep, but provided lots of exercise to burn off all the extra calories we enjoyed during our stay. The kitchen and bathrooms were all well stocked with soaps and other items that added a unique touch! The ladies at the rental company are AMAZING!!! Always willing to help and answer any questions or concerns that came up. Thanks again for a wonderful stay- looking forward to next years visit already.

Enjoyable week.

We had a great time during our week at Hokie Hideaway. The rental company was very helpful and gave a lot of helpful information to help us decide on a home to book. We wanted a home with plenty of amenities inside and out and this home did not disappoint. There are games inside to enjoy on a rainy day, and water toys outside to enjoy the lake with. We loved being able to bring our Aussie with us who enjoyed the home as much as we did. There are a lot of shaded areas, which is really nice on the hot summer days. The lot is fairly steep, which did not bother us, but it could be a difficult walk for some. We recommend bringing bug spray, as it does get rather buggy, especially near the dock. The only downfall we had was getting yelled at by the grumpy neighbors for us being in their yard but the docks are so close we did not realize we were.

Good Property but could use some improvements.

We enjoyed our week in August at Hokie Hideaway, and overall, the home is nice. I will start with the positive: The parking is great. We had plenty of space to park our cars and boat trailer. Having the marina within walking distance is great as well. There are plenty of amenities to keep you entertained, such as foosball, kayaks, etc. Now for the cons: Navigating a boat around the dock is tricky as it is narrow. It would be nice to have some extra blankets and pillows in the closets. The walk down to the dock is steep, but it is good exercise. The fire pit is a nice amenity, but it could use some TLC.
