Grotto

We absolutely love coming to the Grotto. This is our second year coming back and we are already excited for next year! The house is so very comfortable and welcoming. We rent a pontoon boat and easy to dock at this house. We love the foosball table and the layout and just everything about this home. It’s so nice to have so many nooks to hang out in outdoors as well. What a gem of a place. Thanks for another great stay!

This is the second time I have rented this house. First time was two years ago. It was easy for me to set this up for this year. Water and car access were good. I rented a 16-foot runabout boat for the week. Lots of deer around the neighborhood and property. I like the two decks on the back of the house a lot but I think the dock is my favorite. Sunrise and sunsets are great from anywhere on the back of the house. The slope is steep but manageable for healthy people. It would be too much for the elderly. We brought our golden doodle, and she loved going up and down the back hill to the dock.

Had the best time at the Grotto! Could not have asked for a better stay for our family with three children. We had the best time here hanging out on the many different outdoor levels, playing foosball, eating dinner and playing games. We rented a pontoon boat and loved being able to dock right at our place. We also enjoyed the large float and just playing in the water. A true gem of a place, we highly recommend the grotto! Beautiful interior with well stocked kitchen and tons of room for all. Thanks so much! Can’t wait to come back!

Outstanding rental. Tons of amenities that kids and grandkids will enjoy and lots of porch swings for reading and lazy lakefront afternoons.

Response: The house is also in a great location for watching boating activity on the water and traffic on Hales Ford Bridge. We also get many comments on the outdoor swing bed being wonderful to lounge on!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Grotto! The house was clean, updated, and stocked with all the essentials (we didn't even need some of the supplies we brought along!), including delicious K-cups for the Keurig. The walk down to the water was a bit steep and a lot of steps, but our 2-year-old and 6-year-old managed just fine (the adults may have been a little out of breath). The decks were perfect for hanging out, offering stunning views of the lake. We enjoyed watching the boaters pass by, and our boat fit perfectly at the dock. We even brought a large inflatable that we tied to the dock for the week, which worked out great! We left it behind for future renters to enjoy. The driveway and parking were steep, but nothing a parking brake couldn't handle. We had the best time at The Grotto and can't wait to come back to Smith Mountain Lake!
