Lovely Home On A Quiet Cove

Review for Posting The house was beautiful with large bedrooms, a large kitchen with plentiful appliances, dishes and cookware. We really enjoyed the house amenities. The week we rented high temps for the day were in the 90’s but the AC kept the indoor temps cool and comfortable. The game room in the basement offered lots of entertainment options and a large screen TV. The screened in porch overlooked the cove and had a large, central ceiling fan. Parking was more than ample. The lot is in a beautiful protected cove. Many of the Smith Mountain Lake homes are situated on or atop steep inclines that lead down to the lake. Lake-it-Easy is no exception. The asphalt path that leads down to the dock area is very steep and connects with a series of steps that give access to the dock area. The fixed dock has a table and deck chairs and a dock house with PFD’s, paddles and assorted floaties. Our week was in the midst of a serious draught and the lake level was at historic lows. A neighbor estimated the lake level was 6 feet below what they refer to as full pond. To handle the fluctuations in lake level most homeowners have a floating dock that can rise and fall with the water level. During our stay the floating dock was about 6 feet below the fixed dock. There is a set of steps on the floating dock to transition from the fixed dock. The first step down was about 27 inches and was not safe. I contacted the rental agency and reported the situation to them including photos. They contacted the owners of Lake-it-Easy and within a day an additional step was added to make it much safer. Kudos to the owners for immediately fixing the problem. Swimming off the floating dock was outstanding. Note that the water is deep. The return trip up to the house is a leg burner. Folks with mobility issues will find dock access and the return trip up the hill very taxing if not impossible. We are in our mid-seventies, are in good physical condition and navigated the dock and steep hill just fine. Our son-in-law brought a 16-foot motorized skiff and we brought 3 kayaks. There was plenty of room for all in the docking area. The home is only a short drive to the nearest major grocery store (Food Lion) which is convenient. Would we rent Lake-it-Easy again….absolutely. We had a great week! The only reason for giving 4 stars vs 5 is dock access.

Great House for Large Family

House as advertised. Steep trek to lake.

Family vaca 25

Lake-It-Easy really lived up to its name. This house made our time at the lake easy, comfortable, and fun from the moment we arrived. With three levels, it worked perfectly for our mixed group—some of us wanted quiet spots to relax, others needed space to keep the kids busy, and this place had both. The screened-in porch quickly became the hangout zone—plenty of seating, a fire table, and no bugs made it a favorite for morning coffee and evening games. The kitchen was surprisingly well-stocked with extras like a waffle maker and griddle, which made meals feel a little more special. We loved the game room downstairs, and the walk-out access to the patio and cornhole kept the kids happy while we got dinner going on the grill. Getting down to the dock was a bit of a trek, but the water was deep, clear, and perfect for paddleboarding and swimming. It’s also close to everything without being in the middle of it all—an easy drive to Halesford Bridge for groceries or dinner out. If you're looking for a place that balances space, comfort, and a great lake setup, this one hits the mark.

Week of summer fun with the family and grandparents

This was our second stay at this house, and it was just as delightful as the first. Nestled in a peaceful cove, the property offers deep water, perfect for swimming and fishing. The dock features a covered area, which is great for staying cool during the summer. Although there is a hike to reach the dock, it's definitely worth it with the two kayaks, paddleboard, and paddleboat available. The house itself was immaculate and spacious, spread out over three levels, allowing everyone to unwind comfortably after a day in the sun. We especially enjoyed the covered screened-in deck off the kitchen, where we had dinner every night. The gas grill, just steps away, made cooking easy, and the deck's protection from the elements and mosquitoes was a huge plus. The kids had a blast in the lower level with the DVDs, foosball table, axe throwing, and an abundance of games. The wildlife viewing was exceptional, almost like something out of a movie, or so my mother said. The rental company was incredibly helpful. They answered all our questions and provided a binder with local information for tourists. Thanks to their excellent service, booking was a breeze. We hope to come again in the fall for a long weekend.

Excellent location, very nice house

Excellent location, very nice house. The only downside is the walk to the lake is very steep and long, but that was it. Everything else is great.
