Break Away

The house and deck area were great We had the family up last week and had a great experience. The marina is very close and we like to go there to hang out doing shopping and play games. So overall we enjoyed the house and deck area very much. And the fishing right off of the dock.

This was our 5th year enjoying SML with family and friends. Working with Smith Mountain Rental was a pleasure. The house was exactly as advertised and other than the lake was extremely low, we had a great time. The house had wonderful amenities and perfect for large gatherings around the kitchen. Thank you for a wonderful time.

We had another wonderful stay at this property and are already planning to return next year. It is a great home for families, and our grandchildren especially enjoyed spending time on the water. We miss the large floating raft available during our June 2025 stay that the kids absolutely loved. If that becomes available again, it is a great addition to the lake experience.

Break Away is a fantastic lake house—super clean, spacious, and perfectly set up for families. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and the space is comfortable and welcoming. The game room with the pool table was a hit with kids and adults, and just steps from the water (instead of a long hill) was such a bonus. We spent mornings on the porch with coffee, afternoons on the patio or out on the kayaks and paddle boards, and evenings around the fire pit. The setup makes it easy to relax while still keeping everyone entertained. Another big plus is the location—it is right in the heart of the “lake life” action. Restaurants, shopping, and nightlife are just minutes away, so we could enjoy quiet time on the water during the day and head out in the evenings to explore everything Smith Mountain Lake has to offer. The rental agency was great to work with, too. We have been booking with SML Vacation Rentals for years, and they always make planning and arranging our vacations smooth and stress-free. We highly recommend Break Away for families or groups looking for a fun and memorable lake getaway.

It was one of the top vacations we have ever had—and we vacation a lot! The house was gorgeous and exceeded our expectations in every way. It was stocked with everything you could ask for, from a waffle iron and a Keurig to a drip coffee machine, a margarita machine, and even an ice cream churn! The space was very comfortable and impeccably clean, making us feel at home. We loved the abundance of outdoor activities options, including plenty of life vests and kayaks. We rented a pontoon boat for the week, which was fantastic, but honestly, we could have had just as much fun with everything available at the house. The location was ideal, with easy access to various stores and restaurants. The only downside was that we couldn’t bring our dog. Overall, the accommodations were excellent; we can’t recommend this rental enough. We can’t wait to come back!
