Boho Bungalow
OH MY GOSH!!!! Where do I start?!
I was born and raised in Hematite VA (west of Covington) I roamed the mountains for years.
So I choose to go to the beach all my life for family vacations.
I just retired June 17, 2026 and was looking for a place at the beach for a quick trip. My oldest daughter Sabrina Winn sent me a picture of Boho Bungalow. I thought wow that would be different. I booked it that day!
I have no regrets! Our adventure here was amazing!
1. How was your water access and parking (both boat and car)? Car great!
2. What was your favorite amenity or feature of the house during your stay?
The decor was beautiful, so cozy. I loved a fan in every room and you could turn the light off and leave the fan running. The ice maker!!! YES The Keurig YES gotta have my coffee. The front porch, the back deck, the lower deck!
3. How about the dock? The dock was great but with the water level so so low and with me being 70 years old and 'thick' I never got to sit on it. But my children and grandchildren were able to do so. I managed to follow a path to the steps leading out to the water and was able to get into the water that way. We all had a blast. The steps on the ladder leading onto the dock were so narrow I was afraid the 8 and 6 year old's would slip. But thanking God they didn't.
4. How would you describe the slope (gentle, easy, leg burner) to the water from the rental? Was it easy for the elderly, children, or pets to access? Thank God for the steps. It made it so easy!
We had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed the Boho!
We plan to return but bring one more person, and was wondering if that would be OK?
Having 7 instead of 6.
I hope to spend a week on our next trip!
Thank you so much for making my first retirement trip a success!
Sincerely,
Sonia Lamb

Cozy Home
The atmosphere was cozy, we truly appreciated the décor, and the beds were quite comfortable. There were numerous spots to hang items, which was very convenient. The master bathroom was somewhat small, but once again, there were plenty of places to hang things. It would be advisable to remove the carpet from the deck, as it is not visually appealing. Loved having everything I needed to cook; nice clean plates and cups, mixing bowls, cooking utensils, cook ware, Tupperware (although some of the tops were missing), but also extra foil, sandwich bags, toilet paper and garbage bags was extra nice. The dock for sure was nice, however, to make it great would have liked having an umbrella at the table and maybe some cushions on the lounge chairs.Slope to deck was great. I think I counted 30 steps, which wasn't bad, the slope was easy.

Beautiful lakeside location
The Boho Bungalow was the perfect place for me to spend a fall weekend at Smith Mountain Lake. It's a beautiful lakeside location in a quiet cul-de-sac, close by boat or car to restaurants and a grocery store. The house and property are described accurately in the listing, with some highlights being the comfortable lower level living space, and the outdoor porches, patio, and private dock right outside. The hosts were very responsive and provided everything I needed for a lovely mountain get-away. Highly recommend!

One of the best houses I’ve stayed in!
I’ve traveled the world, and the Boho Bungalow is one of the best vacation rentals I’ve stayed in!! First of all, the decor and character of this house is off the charts! (Seriously, I need to track down the owners and have them decorate for me! 😍) The house is so warm and inviting from the outside, with a front porch full of rocking chairs, a side deck for outdoor dining, and a lower level patio to load / unload the boat.
The dock is just a few steps down (and then back up) from the house. We rented a boat for our stay here and as we were cruising around the lake, we saw houses that gave us cardiac arrest just thinking about hauling our coolers up flights and flights of stairs! We were so glad to go back to Boho Bungalow with a much friendlier incline!
The interior of the house … omg. I wish my hose looked like this! The decor. The amenities. The thoughtful detail to everything from seating to extra counter-space in the kitchen to the layout of the bedrooms. We had plenty of space for four people to work remotely (plus desks with built in outlets so we didn’t have to crawl underneath or behind beds to plug in laptops!) which made our stay all the easier.
Oh! And it’s so close to boat to restaurants! (That was so much fun for us!) And if you don’t rent a boat like we did, it is an easy and close drive to several restaurants, as well as the big bridge across the lake. The location is seriously perfect. Exactly four hours from Northern Virginia and two hours from Charlottesville and minutes from local amenities (restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores).
The only reason you shouldn’t rent is because I don’t want this place to book up for the times I want to stay here again! :)

A Relaxing Stay at Boho Bungalow
I stayed at Boho Bungalow for a week at the beginning of the fall season and it was wonderful! This house is cozy and well-appointed. There is plenty of room on the main level for a small family to have a meal, watch a movie, or sit on the back deck and enjoy the view of the lake and the sound of the wind in the trees. The lower level is a great space for movie watching or for kids to play. The upstairs bedrooms are a nice size and decorated in a relaxing, cozy style. The master bedroom on the main level is smaller, but has its own en suite. The rooms are all designed to maximize storage and functionality. The dock is a nice size and had room for the pontoon boat that I rented for the week. The location of this house is ideal - just a few minutes by boat from Bridgewater Marina and the Halesford Bridge area and only 15 minutes by car to the grocery store and other shops. If you are looking for a smaller home at SML that is clean, well-appointed, and conveniently located I can highly recommend Boho Bungalow.
