Good vacation home!

We had a great stay at Gone Fishing at Paul’s Place. The house is huge and was a great fit for our group, with lots of different areas to relax without everyone being on top of each other. Having two full kitchens was especially convenient with a larger group. We were pleasantly surprised by how much water there was at the dock even with the low lake levels this year, so we were still able to really enjoy being on the lake. We also appreciated being able to bring our two small poodles along for the trip. Between the space, lake access, and all the extras in the house, it was a great place for a family vacation. A trash can holder at the top of the drive instead of having to haul the can up the big hill would be a bonus. Some new outdoor furniture would be good too. The sun has worn this set down.

Great Setup for a Guys Fishing Week

We had a crew of seven guys in for a fishing week at Gone Fishin' at Paul’s Place, and it worked out really well. Everyone had their own bed, which is a huge plus on this trip. Having two kitchens made it easy to spread out and keep food and drinks stocked, and we spent plenty of time grilling out after long days on the water. We brought three bass boats with us and were able to get two under cover at the dock. The setup on the water made it simple to load up early in the morning and pull back in after dark. The house itself is nice—honestly, almost too fancy for a bunch of fishermen—but the space was exactly what we needed. With two big living areas, we could spread out, watch a game, or just crash without stepping on each other. Overall, Paul’s Place gave us everything we needed for a great week on the lake. For the price, the space and setup really worked for our group.

Great size lake house short drive from Roanoke

We rented this house for our yearly dad trip. 7 guys had more than enough room everywhere here. Even had room to spare. Plenty of rooms, plenty of bathrooms. Great game room. Plenty of TVs. The dock and lake were beautiful. We were all very comfortable. Ac/heat work great. Beds were comfy. Lounge areas were large and comfy. Parking was fine. We only had 3 cars so no issues. We didn’t have or rent a boat but if we did, it would have been super easy. Nice dock. Great for fishing too. Cause a few fish. Our favorite amenity was probably the game room/downstairs lounge area. That’s probably where we hung out the most. We also really enjoyed the back patio and upper decks. Beautiful views. The slope down the driveway was rather steep but we didn’t have any issues. We didn’t walk the driveway. The steps down to the dock were steep and a bit challenging in the dark. There seems to be lights on the trail but we couldn’t find the switch. Kitchen had everything we needed but we didn’t really cook. Mostly ordered food. Overall, it had everything we really needed. Great spot and I’ll try to rent again next year.

Rain or shine this one's a DIME!

We had a fantastic experience at this wonderful and very clean home, especially considering it’s dog-friendly—there were no dog smells or hair anywhere! The space was just right for our family and our two dogs. The kitchen was well-stocked with plenty of cookware, and it was clear that the owners took great care of the property. Everything was functional and tidy, although we did notice that the knives could use replacement or sharpening. Linen service was provided, but there was no make-up service, which was a bit of a task at the start of our vacation. The location near Goodview is perfect, situated in a private part of the lake. The floating dock was large enough to accommodate the 24-foot pontoon we rented, which made our time on the water even more enjoyable. We loved the fire pit table—perfect for a cozy evening outdoors on a nice fall night. The walk from the dock to the house did involve several steps, but they were well-maintained and manageable for us. Just a note for anyone with mobility issues: it’s something to consider. One of the highlights was the movie room on the top floor. On a rainy day, we all gathered there for a movie marathon, and it was a blast! Overall, we would definitely stay here again. Everyone in the family loved it!
