Dewitt was as pictured nothing fancy, but comfortable and great location on the water. The view when walking in is amazing it looks like you are on the water. It had everything we needed. It was also nice to have a dock for our boat. However, if you bring a boat, I do not recommend taking it to the house. We did and luckily my husband is a great driver. The road was a little narrow and it was a small, slanted driveway not that suitable for a pontoon boat. If you take a boat Parkway Marina is just another mile or 2 down the road and the rates were very reasonable. I would suggest going straight there with your boat and if you are not ready to launch just park it there. This was our first time to Smith Mt. Lake and I liked this home is on what appears to be the less developed side, but still close to some restaurants by boat. The backyard slope is pretty gentle and easy to walk down. The other great thing is the sandy beach area. It is great for kids to get right into the water, and you can fish right off the dock. Other than the boat parking, my only other issue is you have to take your garbage to a dump down the road. It's not that far away, but again if you have a boat and are leaving it's pretty inconvenient. Overall, for the price this was a great location and after staying at a state cabin it was great having great smelling, clean towels and bed linens. And yes, I don't like roughing it much now of days and appreciate a TV, wifi and washer dryer. And to my last point, if you want to watch Netflix etc. bring your own Roku or Firestick. These TVS are not smart tvs. Hope this helps you out.

We enjoyed yet another stay at the DeWitt cabin, marking our 9th visit over the last five years! This little spot is perfect for a small family with a pet and remains surprisingly affordable. The cabin is always clean and in a quiet neighborhood. We appreciate the well-stocked kitchen for its size—there were even a few items we forgot to bring, which we found there. We have spent many hours on the covered deck, where we can cook on the gas grill or just enjoy the lovely views and stay cool in the shade. The boat dock is a great feature, letting us keep our fishing boat under cover while charging the battery. With three marinas close by—SML State Park, Parkway, and Mitchell’s—launching is quick and easy! The sandy natural beach is perfect for our little furball to take a dip and chase some ducks, and having a washer and dryer in the cabin helped us keep laundry to a minimum for the trip home. If you’re looking for an affordable, quiet place with great swimming and fishing spots, this is the place for you.
